Yesterday, I finished my final deep edit of DARKEST NIGHT, the final novel in the Department 19 series. There’s still a copyedit, a typesetting and a proofread to come, but the bulk of the work is now done, and I’m suddenly aware that it is only a few months until people will be able to read the end of the long story I’ve been writing for the past six years. Which is a bit nerve-wracking, and a lot exciting!
So – I’m delighted to reveal the final cover for DEPARTMENT 19: DARKEST NIGHT. It follows the style that we’ve established over the past four books (although for the first time we’ve swapped out the crest of weapons for… well, you’ll see :) – I think it looks big, and epic, and hopefully very much like a finale should!
Hope you like it – more details and dates and links to follow in the next week or so…

I cant believe this series is coming to an end. Reading “zero hour” right now, after rereading the series again in preparation for it. Such a good series and looking forward for the final installment. Maybe… just maybe… one day we could see this as an animated series as well, and relive this whole epic saga. Cover looks awesome!

Please do not kill Larissa or Jamie. It will ruin the hole entire series. Especially don’t kill Larissa. Everyone wants to see her turn into a human again.

I am curious though, if vampires were real, then wouldn’t standard ballistics have an advantage over your Pneumatic Launchers? They have a higher muzzle velocity (thus a higher hit rate), and would still be able to hit the heart. T-bones would have absolutely zero armor piercing effect, and would certainly never even get close to piercing that concrete wall the first time Jamie tried the T-bone. Forget flying and punching through bunkers on vampirism’s side, explain how t-bones could be a realistic option against vampires, how could stakes have nearly the same potency as bullets? Wouldn’t a .50 cal (capable of ripping the human body in half with one shot), be able to kill a vampire if it hit the thorax?

A movie company needs to pick up the rights to this as it would be so cool to watch

Love vampire stories….
Bought all 4 books last 2 weeks at a book fair.
Once I begin reading the books, I couldn’t stop. Can’t wait to read the fifth book. I hope it is not the last.

I believe this series should be made into a movie. Much like the Hunger Games and Divergent series. Here’s to hoping that Michael Bay would produce it :)
